Twenty years ago there was no doubt that the best restaurant in the Swindon area was the Three Crowns in Brinkworth. People went there for a special occasion and you were never disappointed.
Washing pots there and learning the restaurant business was Ashley Windle. The Crowns was run by his parents and now he has succeeded the standards he learned from home because he along with Samantha Berry are running the Royal Wootton Basett and doing a rather special job.
From the Three Crowns Ashley ran The Weighbridge Brewhouse in Swindon for a number of years and it was decided that it is time he and Samantha pursued their goal of having their own pub/restaurant. Samantha has worked on and off in high end hospitality since she was 16 and at 17, Samantha had joined Ashley as part of the team at The Weighbridge.
After leaving the Weighbridge, they travelled the world visiting places like America, Vietnam, Thailand, Hong Kong, Australia and the Philippines. These travels are what led to the dream of opening a restaurant showcasing food from all over the world and offering the best selection of food and drink in a welcoming and homely environment, with service to match.
Their restaurant/pub is on the outskirts of the town, with bags of parking and the food is delicious.
There is both meat and fish tapas and probably the best steaks for miles around plus a superb vegetarian world tapas range.
The Royal Wootton Bassett contact number is 01793 376190 and the post code is SN4 7HT. There is no takeaway or delivery but an extremely comfortable dining area.
