There is something of an unusual habit among some Cotswold pubs in that you can’t get a lunch time meal on a Monday and Tuesday which obviously can be somewhat irritating. Apparently it’s known as Cotswold time.

But not the Masons Arms at Meysey Hampton, close to Cirencester. They are open every day of the week and provide good wholesome food. The landlord and lady are Greg and Vicki who have been running the place since August 2020 and what a good job they have done. Of all Cotswold eating establishments the staff at the Masons Arms cannot be bettered. They are charming friendly and go out of their way to help in any way they can.

The pub is adjacent to the green in the heart of the village, a traditional Gloucestershire village complete with a school, village hall and 13th-century church. Cirencester is seven miles west, famously picturesque Bibury is five miles north, the lakes and leisure activities of the Cotswold Water Park are a couple of miles east. The nearest railway stations are Kemble and Swindon, a 25-minute taxi ride west and south respectively.

Behind the bar there’s a range of crafted ales by Arkell’s, who own the pub, and a large collection of gins.

The address is 28 High St, Meysey Hampton, Cirencester GL7 5JT and the phone is 01285 850164.
